	YAROSLAVL

Yaroslavl is one of the oldest cities of Russia situated on the banks of the Volga river. It was found in 1010 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise. Yaroslavl suffered through many years of troubles but kept its "image", beautiful complexes of churches and monasteries, nobiliary mansions and parks, the richest collections of icons and articles of decorative folk art, remarkable architectural monuments which witnessed many historical events of the city. The visitors can enjoy wonderful frescoes of 16-18th centuries in the 12th century Preobrazhensky Monastery. Particularly impressive is the Prorock Elijah Church which is a real masterpiece of Russian architecture. Yaroslavl is a birthplace of many outstanding people of Russia.
